Notable for 2017

  • New Nightfall Edition
  • New engine and transmission
The 2017 GMC Canyon is carrying over most of its design from the 2016 model year. Pricing for 2017 models, which will arrive at dealerships in late 2016, has not yet been announced.

GMC Canyon Interior

Expanded Connectivity
There will be two standard USB ports in SLE, SLT, and Denali models – one on the dashboard and one inside the center console – plus two available USB ports on the rear of the center console. The Canyon will also offer 4G LTE with a built-in Wi-Fi hot spot.
Full Denali Treatment
The new Canyon Denali will offer buyers the full Denali experience available with other GMC models. In addition to its upgraded exterior styling, the interior of the Canyon Denali will feature a jet black color scheme with leather-appointed, heated, and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a full-color driver’s display, automatic climate control, and Denali-logo sill plates and floor mats.

GMC Canyon Performance

New Engine
A new available 3.6-liter V6 engine is designed to offer drivers more confident acceleration. Mated to a new eight-speed transmission, GMC boasts that the shifting experience will be smoother than before. The powertrain is rated to achieve 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque – both slight increases over the old V6.
Excellent Trailering Capacity
The 2017 Canyon will deliver great towing capacity when equipped with the V6 or the available 2.8-liter turbodiesel. With the V6, the Canyon supports a 7,000-pound max trailering rating. With the diesel, it's rated at 7,700 pounds.
New All Terrain X Package
The 2017 Canyon will be offered in an SLE trim level with available All Terrain X package, giving buyers the opportunity to make their compact truck more rugged. The package includes an off-road suspension and transfer case shield, hill descent control, a spray-on bedliner, step bars, unique 17-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, and all-weather floor liners. Note that this package will only be offered with the V6 and turbodiesel engines.
